Biser Zagorja area

We will get acquainted with three places that make up the Biser Zagorje area: Klanjec, Veliko Trgovišće and Tuhelj.
Klanjec, a small town rich in culture, history and tradition, lies at the foot of Mount Cesarska Gora on the Sutla River, on the border with Slovenia.
We visit the monastery where the crypt of the Erdödy family is located, valuable sarcophagi from the 17th century open to the public.
Antun Augustinčić Gallery. It was founded in 1970 when Antun Augustinčić, one of the most important Croatian sculptors, donated his own sculptural work, created during his 50-year career, to his hometown of Klanjec.
A short drive to Veliko Trgovišće follows. A charming place tailored for family, located at the entrance of Krapina-Zagorje County, coming from Zagreb on the bank of Krapina River. Veliko Trgovišće is the birthplace of the first Croatian President, Dr. Franjo Tuđman, and in his memory his birthplace and the memorial school were renovated with a memorial part and a picture gallery, as well as a library and a reading room.
The third destination is Tuhelj, which is located in the western part of Krapina-Zagorje County at the foot of Mount Cesarska gora on the Horvatska River.
