Bike ride through the history of Brdovec

Take a bike ride through the southern part of the picturesque Municipality of Brdovec. Best time to start is in the morning so prepare yourself at the start point in the village of Pirgorje Brdovečko. This route leads to one of the most beautiful classicist castles in Croatia, Januševec castle. Continue towards Prudnice, more precisely, towards the factory of liquor and foam. At this point you will reach the archeological site in Drenje Brdovečko, where the Roman villa Rustica was found.

Return to Prigorje Brdovečko on a trail through Prudnice, Zdenci Brdovečki and Javorje where the baroque Church of St. Vitus is located. At the end of the bike ride visit the Museum of Brdovec where you can see objects that were used long ago in the life of their ancestors.

After the bike tour, lunch is planned at the village estate of Stara Preša, hidden in the hills of Šenkovac. On our way to the restaurant visit the Vraniczany Castle (from outside). This 19th century structure is in Art Nouveau style and surrounded by a beautiful green park. Don`t forget to visit wine cellar of the Gašparinčić family, known for its multi-award winning wines at domestic and international competitions.

After lunch at Stara Preša, head to the lavender fields owned by OPG Brestovec. The family-owned business is engaged in organic lavender cultivation. It`s a great place to buy a souvenier such as fragrant soaps, lip balms, creams, bath salt and teas and enjoy the true meaning of their brand “Modri Bregi”. Our tour ends at the highest peak of the whole area, the viewpoint on Sveti Križ. At 310m above sea level you can see the whole valley along the Sava river.
