On the way to Lake Lokvarsko, we first stop at the viewpoint, we are offered a magical morning panorama of the lake. Lokvarsko Lake is an artificial lake that was created in 1954 when a dam was built on the Lokvarka River. Around the whole lake there is an approx. 17.5 km long circular route that takes approx. 5 hours. For the less ambitious, however, a short walk along the lake is recommended. There are many dining options along the lake, recommendations for lunch.
In the early afternoon we come to the Lokvarka cave. I look forward to immersing myself in the mystical world of the karst underground. The established paths and stairs led us to three explored cave halls over a total distance of 1200 meters. The path that we can walk leads to a depth of about 40 meters.
Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Breakfast and we go on a new adventure.
The Golubinjak Forest Park is located nearby. Golubinjak is ideal for enjoying and relaxing in nature, active visitors have a sports field and a bowling alley and many hiking trails. Gastronomy objects take care of the culinary offer, but there is also the possibility of renting a barbecue area.
The Kotač nature center is only a 5-minute drive away. Here we indulge in tasting homemade medicinal liqueurs made from various herbs. There is also a permanent exhibition space mainly related to the history of Lujzinska Street, 200 year old street that connects Rijeka and Karlovac.
In the afternoon we drive to the “Wild West”, through Fužine we continue towards the cowboy village Roswell Fužine. The village was founded during the making of the film about Winnetou in 2015. We dive into the Wild West, where, in addition to the cowboy village, we can also try archery, horseshoe throwing, horse riding, Winchester shooting and lasso throwing …
Towards the end of the day, I feel like an actor from a Winnetou movie.
