Drava-Ivančica-Ravna Gora Adventure

We arrive in the center of the Varaždin County, in the city of Varaždin in the afternoon. An active program with a handful of interesting activities along the Drava River awaits us. SUP (Stand up paddle) is a water sport of a modern trend that originates from Hawaii. The SUP board will guide you through the hidden and often inaccessible tributaries of the river, and since you are standing at full height on your board, you will be able to observe what is underwater but also on the horizon. After several hours of recreation, we return to our accommodation for a short rest and refreshment.

Breakfast. We will take an orientation walk and get to visit the main sights in the most beautiful streets of the city before lunch. Some of the sights are The Old Town, Strossmayer Promenade, Franciscan Square, Central Town Square – King Tomislav Square, Varaždin Cathedral, Vatroslav Jagić Promenade, Croatian National Theater…

After lunch, we return to the Drava for river rafting. We will descend the river landscape that is part of the biosphere reserve and probably come upon animals that live in their natural habitat (bald eagle, black stork, beaver).

Return to the hotel. Dinner, overnight.

After breakfast and check-out we leave Varaždin and head towards Ivanec. Located at the foot of the largest mountain in Zagorje, Ivančica, Ivanec is a favorite place for nature lovers, recreationists, mostly mountaineers. We will set off on the educational trail “Ivanečki mlinarski put” which stretches along the mountain stream Bistrica. We will visit mill sites that have played a significant role in the history of the development of milling and the economy of Ivanec in general. One of them is Friščić’s mill. Here we take a stop and attend a presentation of grinding grain in the mill. Continuing further, we reach the spring “Žgano vino”, after which we return back.

After a late lunch, drive to the hotel Trakoščan, and check into rooms. It would be a shame not to take a stroll around Lake Trakošćan in your free time.

Breakfast. For the bravest, we have prepared a panoramic tour in a completely different way – from a bird’s eye view. Paragliding flight in tandem is organized from the airfield of the mountain Ravna Gora, which is considered the last branch of the Alps. This option includes transportation, the flight lasts approx. 45 min, with a licensed tandem pilot, state-of-the-art equipment, acrobatic flying, and at the passenger’s request – the possibility to try out the glider control. There is also a lookout that offers a beautiful view of the castle Trakošćan.
