We drive to the Drniš region, more precisely to Etnoland Dalmatia in Pakovo Selo.
We curiously dive into the past and customs of the people of this area. Etnoland tells this story.
Here you can learn folk dance, visit the ethnographic museum, which also offers an audio tour, and most importantly learn interesting history about what constitutes the cultural and historical identity of the people in the Dalmatian hinterland.
After extensive research, regional dishes are served to eat in the inn. Home-made wine and schnapps are available to drink.
Continuation of the route to the viewpoint of the Ključica fortress. Ključica Fortress is the largest and best preserved medieval fortress in the Drniš area and is a listed building. It was built in the 14th century by the Nelipić family and is located on the right bank of the ČiIkola Gorge near the village of Ključ on the Miljevac plateau. It was built to allow control of the Venetian trade route from the city of Šibenik to the hinterland and to Bosnia.
We arrive in Skradinski Buk in the late afternoon. Hotel accommodation, free time, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast and departure for a tour of the Krka National Park. About 15 minutes drive from Skradinski Buk to Lozovac (one of the entrances to Krka National Park).
We start on the Skradinski Buk hiking trail. You will see beauty at every turn, a network of paths and bridges that lead to the mills, including the national park’s ethnographic collection, over travertine barriers (these deposits are called tufa or travertine, both of which are commonly referred to as “sedra” in Croatian ), through woods and meadows to the magnificent Skradinski buk waterfall. The longest and most famous waterfall in the Krka National Park.
In the immediate vicinity is the pier where we board a boat and head towards Visovac.
The island of Visovac is located in Lake Visovac. Since 1445 it has housed the Franciscan monastery of Our Lady and the Church of Our Madonna of Visovac, which together with the beautiful landscape create a unique ambience.
Island tour, then return to Sradinski Buk. Lunch in Krka National Park and free time.
Return to the hotel in the late afternoon for an overnight dinner.
After breakfast we leave the hotel and take a short bus ride towards Drnis.
In front of the city museum we are greeted by a local guide who shows us the sights of the city and leads us into the history of the city (with some myths and legends). We start with the City Museum, which brings together, among other things, the archaeological collection, the cultural-historical collection and the collection of the famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović. The next stop is Gradina Drniš Fortress, the only fortress that has survived in the city. From this point one has one of the most beautiful views of Drniš, Promina and Petrovo polje. In the immediate vicinity of the fortress there is a minaret, the Church of Saint Ante (former mosque) and the Church of Our Madonna of the Rosary …
We start our way home, but all impressions, everything seen and experienced, will be carried with us …
