We start our two-day stay with a visit to the Church of St. Martin in Lovčić. Romanesque church from 1167, single-nave construction. The interior of the church was painted with early Gothic frescoes. After the baroque restoration in the 18th century, the western wall, the Romanesque portal and a window have been preserved from the original Romanesque elements.
The tour continues to the ethno-village Lovčić. The ethno village is a unique locality, it preserves the memory of the medieval history of this area.
We continue our research into the sacred heritage of this area.
One of the greatest attractions of Meridian Slavonica is the Way of the Cross in Stari Slatinik. It is located in the middle of the “Obrijež” forest.
The Way of the Cross, unique in this part of Slavonia. Located in the shade of the forest, with beautifully landscaped paths, with numerous benches, it is certainly one of the most beautiful objects of its kind. The paintings at all Stations of the Cross were made by the painter Ivan Vrljić-Kinez from Stari Slatinik, and each of them is a small one Masterpiece of art.
In the immediate vicinity we go to the Ribarska kuća restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is located next to the Jasinje fish ponds and offers a special gastronomic offer: traditional fish peppers, fried carp, catfish, perch and many other fish dishes and meat specialties from Slavonian cuisine.
Full and satisfied we drive to our hotel Stupničke dvore, free time, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast and departure to the Shrine of Our Lady of Kloštar. The sanctuary belongs to the parish of St. John the Baptist in Slavonski Kobaš. It is located on the banks of the Orlajva River, which flows into the Sava a kilometer downstream. This is where the cemetery is located, where the Gothic, then Baroque-style church is located.
After visiting this Marian shrine, we made our way to Stara Chapel.
The Stara Kapela eco-ethnic village is home to the Way of the Cross, which leads from the eco-ethnic village to a nearby hill. Beautifully laid out paths with lighting, benches and stations of the cross. Everyone who is looking for mental refreshment is at the right address.
Free time for lunch and to visit the eco-ethno village. Departure, we’re going back home.
