Križnica is an oasis and a protected island landscape along the Croatian-Hungarian border, which is accessible only by a cable ferry or an old pedestrian suspension bridge. The cable ferry rides every full hour. Although it takes up to three minutes to get to the other side, you’ll want it to slow down to keep the experience going. Upon arrival, a homemade and delicious lunch follows in one of the rural households, known not only for Drava fish dishes but also for delicious desserts such as “Podravina štruklji” or “zlevanka”. After lunch, it’s time to get to know the significant landscape, either by walking the Life Stara Drava educational trail, cycling, or taking a boat ride through the tributaries of the Drava River.
After hours spent in nature, it’s time for dinner followed by an overnight stay.
Wake up to the sounds of birds chirping, far away from the city bustle. You can have your morning coffee at one of the piers and enjoy the scenes of the winding Drava River. Before leaving Križnica, the hosts will prepare a rich breakfast to fill you with enough energy to return home.
