Inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist Nikola Tesla was born on 9/10 of July 1856 in Smiljan, close to Gospić, Croatia. Coming from an Orthodox family, his father Milutin was an Orthodox priest, his mother Georgina (Đuka) also comes from a family of Orthodox priests.
He was also a pioneer in the discovery of radar technology, X-ray technology, remote control and the rotating magnetic field – the basis of most AC machinery. Tesla is most well-known for his contributions to AC electricity and for the Tesla coil. Did you know that he worked with Thomas Edison?
We will give you the opportunity to visit the house where he was born, and its beautiful natural surroundings, such as the National Park Plitvice Lakes which is protected by the UNESCO World Heritage register, and the National Park Northern Velebit.
