Let’s spend at least a day (or more) on Mount Promina. For lovers of hiking, mountaineering or cycling.
Promina is a mountain in Dalmatia north of Drniš and south of Knin in the center of Šibenik-Knin County. The highest peak of Promina is Čavnovka in its central part with a height of 1148 m.
From the “Planinarsko Dom Promina” (mountain hut Promina), hikers have several options to choose shorter or longer ascents. Several marked hiking and “off-road” roads lead to the mountain hut.
Our recommendation is the newly created “Promina bike and hiking trail”
The trail is six kilometers long and divided into five sections on the Lišnjak – Promina refuge route. The newly renovated path follows the existing gravel road about three meters wide, crosses the Dalmatian hinterland and meanders along the western side of the Promina mountain, which is overgrown with native trees and aromatic plants. Along the entire route there are benches, rubbish bins, information boards and signposts, and two rest areas – one with a view of the town of Drnis and the other at the “Mali Točak” source of drinking water.
Access by car to the village of Lišnjak: From the center of Drniš drive towards Oklaj 1.5 km to the point where the narrow asphalt road branches off to the right 4 km to the village of Lišnjak. The junction is marked by a small hiking trail sign. From this junction continue for 1.7 km to the signposts and markings that point to the right to the hiking trail and leave the asphalt road -1 km before the village of Lišnjak. On the right side of the street in front of the sign there is a larger extension where more cars can be parked. From here is the starting point of this hike.
Nearby you can easily find a restaurant serving local specialties, where you can refresh yourself after a day on the mountain. There are many options of accommodation from hotels, apartments to holiday homes.
Our recommendation is: Unikat holiday home (Nečven, Puljane), or “Ivini Dvori” country house (Bogatić).
Breakfast. Since you are already in this area, go to the town of Drnis.
Drniš is located about 30 km from Šibenik, the center of the Šibenik-Knin County, and as such has a long military history and an incredibly rich culture.
Start with the City Museum, which brings together the archaeological collection, the cultural-historical collection, and the collection of the famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović, among other things. The next stop is Gradina Drniš Fortress, the only fortress that has survived in the city. From this point you have one of the most beautiful views of Drniš, Promina and Petrovo polje. In the immediate vicinity of the fortress there is a minaret, the Church of Saint Ante (former mosque) and the Church of Our Madonna of the Rosary …
This form of active relaxation is open over time; it is up to you whether you stay for a day or extend it for a few more days
