Bike route number 3 is ideal for recreationists and is rated as moderately demanding. Start fresh in the morning from Prigorje Brdovečko and ride towards one of the most beautiful classicist castles in Croatia, Januševec. Continue towards Prudnice, more precisely, towards the factory of liquor and foam. Next, you will be able to visit the archeological site in Drenje Brdovečko, where the Roman villa Rustica was found.
Ride down to the river Sutla and continue along the Croatian-Slovenian border. You will pass Ključ Brdovečki, Harmica, Vukovo Selo, and reach the Roman Catholic building of the Curia, a protected cultural property from the 16th century in Kraj Donji. The route separates from the river Sutla and leads to the hilly area of Marija Gorica. A fine homemade lunch awaits you in the “Ladanjski raj” on the hill above Marija Gorica. Enjoy a beautiful view of the Sutla valley and Slovenia, from the terrace under the pine trees.
After a short break, time to get back on your wheels and explore Marija Gorica. Visit the winery and cellar of the Žnidarić family, known for its multi-award-winning wines at domestic and international competitions. Pass the baroque Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, ride through the settlement Sveti Križ to Šenkovec. Make your way to the Vraniczany Castle, which was built in the 19th century in Art Nouveau style and surrounded by a beautiful green park. Moving on, you will be getting very close to the starting point of the cycling route.
Make sure you spend your free time visiting the Museum in Brdovec where you can see objects that were used long ago in the life of their ancestors. If you are a cheese lover, don’t miss out on the delicious cheeses from the nearby factory Furnkranz. This small and local business uses the milk of their own cows on a farm in the yard.
