Spačva bicycle adventure

Arrive at the “Otočki Virovi” for lunch. After checking in, set off and spend a beautiful day on a cycling adventure, explore the Spačva Forrest riding your own bike or renting cycling equipment at the Centre. Start by riding on the bike route „Virovi“. Ride alongside the educational trail to get to Virgrad, a medieval archeological find that has been declared protected cultural property. Continue riding leisurely, pass the special reservation of forest vegetation known as „Lože“ and make your way to the town Otok. Here you can visit the horse-powered mill – also known as the Otočka Suvara, nearby the centre of Otok. Take a break for coffee or refreshments in the town centre. Return to the Bioecological-Education Centre through the meadows of Čistina, the most famous natural carp hatchery in eastern Croatia.

Dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast. Continue exploring the area on the „Spačva“ bicycle route. Take off, once again, to Virgrad but now continue towards the neighboring place named Bošnjaci. The Forest Museum is located on the main road, it’s one of the most beautiful museums of its kind in Europe. Take the opportunity for a stroll through the Museum, get to know the history of forestry in this part of the region, especially of the Spačva basin that is known for lucerne oak forests (a symbolic entrance fee is charged on location).

If you wish to return to the Centre quicker use the same route you come from, if not, continue east on the „Spačva“ route towards the river Brežnica and the highway junction. After the junction, the route leads back to Virgrad and the Centre.

Late lunch is served at the Centre. You can spend the rest of the afternoon at the wellness oasis, which guarantees perfect relaxation after several hours of recreation.

Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we recommend you spend your morning in nature and enjoy it! Explore the water route of the Spačva basin by renting a canoe or a kayak. 

Before leaving be sure you visit the multimedia hall that allows you to relive the natural wonders of the Spačva forests in an interactive, multimedia, and very fun way through a unique concept „Eyes of nature“.
