In the late morning we reach the Lokvarka Cave.
Lokvarka Cave is located next to the Zagreb-Rijeka highway, about 2 km east of the center of Lokve, on the south-eastern slopes of the hill Kameni vrh at 760 m above sea level.
It is the deepest touristic speleological facility in Croatia, where tourists can get from the entrance to the bottom of the touristic part at a depth of about 75 m.
We dive into the mystical world of the karst underground. Paved paths and stairs lead us to three explored cave halls for a total distance of 1200 meters.
Lunch at one of the nearby restaurants (frog legs are a specialty of this region of Lokvar).
A short drive takes only ten minutes to reach Delnice.
Hotel accommodation, free afternoon to explore Delnice on your own.
The highest town in Croatia is Delnice, 698 meters, the central and largest settlement of Gorski kotar, framed by the hills of Drgomlje, Petehovac and Japlenski vrh.
When discovering Delnice, be sure to visit the “Popović Mill”, the parish church of St. John the Baptist, the Rački house – the oldest house in the region ….
Dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast
We leave Delnice and after a 20-minute drive we reach the Vrelo Cave near Fužine.
The cave is located by the beautiful Bajer Lake, about 3 km from the center of Fužine, which is connected by a pleasant walking promenade along the eastern shore of the lake.
We set out on foot and reach the cave in a pleasant walk.
Vrelo Cave – the total length of all channels is 300 m.
There are many interesting things related to this speleological object, and one of them is the underground stream that springs near “Mali Vrelo” and whose water flows through the cave. The sand at the bottom of the creek is magnetic, which causes the magnet to strongly attract sand particles. You can only see this phenomenon in this speleological object.
Besides the fact that the estimated age of the oldest Siegen is between 500,000 and 600,000 years, there are rare forms of Siegen that are thickened upwards, irregularly curved Siegen, bulbous or cauliflower-shaped Siegen, a peculiarity of the Vrelo
Cave.
The entire length of the cave is illuminated, the walk takes about half an hour. The temperature in the cave is 8 ° C all year round.
After visiting the cave, lunch in Fužine and return home.
