A six-day city break with accommodation in Baranja is an ideal travel arrangement for lovers
of cultural heritage, nature and oenological experiences. Baranja, located in the eastern part of
Croatia, is rich in history, breathtaking nature and vineyards. This program allows you to
explore this region’s most important cultural and natural treasures and enjoy traditional foods
and wines.
Day 1: Arrival in Baranja.
Upon arrival and check-in at a comfortable hotel, the guests will be acquainted with the travel
itinerary and receive a warm welcome from their hosts. Guests can spend the evening enjoying
local delicacies at the restaurant of the hotel accompanied by a music program.
Day 2: Osijek – Tvrđa (Old Town) and Pejačević Castle.
After breakfast, the guests will head to Osijek’s Tvrđa. The guests will travel by bus
accompanied by a heritage interpreter who will share stories about past times, legends and
secrets of the places they pass through. The second part of the program begins at Osijek’s
Tvrđa. A guide will lead the group on a delightful e-bike ride through Osijek. They will tour
Osijek’s Tvrđa, make their way down to the Drava River and then ride alongside it until they
arrive at Pejačević Castle. The guests will enjoy the interpretive guidance through the caste and
find out all about the intriguing Pejačević family and their connection to Baranja.
Day 3: Tikveš Castle and Kopački rit Nature Park.
After breakfast, the journey will continue in Tikveš Castle, where guests will take joy in an
intriguing storytelling performance narrated by the owners of the Von Habsburg Castle. Guests
will learn all about the former hunting castle, the flora and fauna of Kopački rit and then head
on a ride through Kopački rit with a ranger. Lunch at a local restaurant and dinner with time
for relaxation and enjoyment.
Day 4: Family Eszterházy’s Castle in Darda and the old Belje wine cellar in Kneževi
Vinogradi.
After breakfast, guests will visit Family Eszterházy’s Castle and participate in a special
storytelling performance that will reveal legends and stories associated with this historical
building. They will also enjoy the taste of delicious Eszterházy cake and tea accompanied by
Maria Theresa. Afterward, they will head to the old Belje wine cellar in Kneževi Vinogradi,
where they will have a great wine-tasting experience in the Belje cellars accompanied by
another storytelling performance about the cellar, the long history of the place and the people
who have shaped the life of the cellar and the Baranja vineyards. Apart from the ghosts of the
past, the performance features hajduks, executioners, Turks and other intriguing characters
from history. Lunch at a local restaurant is scheduled after the visit to the cellar, and in the
evening, there is free time for guests to continue socializing or explore the beauties of Baranja
on their own.
Day 5: Church of St. Peter and Paul in Topolje, castle in Kamenac and Eugene of Savoy’s
Castle.
After breakfast, the next stop is Topolje, where guests will visit the Church of St. Peter and Paul
and immerse themselves in a special storytelling performance that will reveal the
significance of the church in the history of the region and the legends associated with it. Then,
they will head towards Eugene of Savoy’s Castle in Bilje, where they will discover the thrilling
stories about the connection between Eugen Savoy and Bilje, as well as the role of the castle
in the lives of the people of Bilje, both in the past and today. Lunch at the local restaurant is
planned afterwards as well as the time for relaxation in the evening.
Day 6: Returning home.
After breakfast, the guests will have free time for additional exploration or souvenir shopping
before heading home full of new stories and experiences about Baranja.
